The Big Cheese is a very inexpensive and efficient cat repeller – it covers approximately 120 square meters and its infrared detector works for up to 12 meters distance. The device uses ultrasound to scare the cats away, but a switch can change the sound to audible, so you can quickly check if it actually emits sound and is working properly. The Big Cheese is powered by two 9v batteries that are not included, but the device can be connected to the mains as well, although you will have to buy the cord separately. However, the Big Cheese is on standby most of the time and switches on only when the motion detector is triggered, which helps preserving the batteries. For better effect, you might want to change the position of the Big Cheese once in a while and for larger gardens or flower beds, you might need a few of these devices.

One reviewer, who is clearly not a cat person, had four of God’s little feline creatures move in next door with a new family. After being let outside to do their business, the cats would continually seek out her yard in which to do it. She had tried nontoxic chemical fluids sprayed around the border of her yard (and spent a small fortune doing it) but to no avail. Next, she sprayed and laid lemons around the border of her property; again, no results. Though she had no intention of hurting the animals, they started defecating on and around her four year old daughter’s trampoline as well as the rest of her yard and garden.
Finally, she tried the Big Cheese. Suddenly, finally, it was bye bye kitty. She wants everyone to know that tying bags on your trees, using the disinfectant gels or chemicals, and even lemons are not the answer to stray cats messing in your yard. The one and only utilitarian piece of advice that she ever received was the use of this cat repeller. It truly did the trick.
A second reviewer bought the Big Cheese Cat Repeller to address not only the neighborhood cats but also one neighbor’s dog as well. It seems this dog always came into his yard to do its thing, then happily returned home. The device’s manual does say that foxes and dogs may be repelled as well as cats and this is exactly what he was hoping for.
Upon the neighbor’s return from vacation, the dog immediately came over to its favorite relief area - his yard. It did flinch on entry but did its business anyway. In four weeks, however, the dog has only been back once. The directions say that it can take approximately 28 days for an animal to ‘get it.’ Some cats will actually lie next to the device trying to intimidate it, until they realize it’s a losing battle.
You’ll love this. After installing the Big Cheese in her garden, a female reviewer was not only happy with the results but also entertained at the same time. If only she had had her video camera, it would’ve been a sure winner on America’s Funniest Home Videos. Whilst gazing out of her kitchen window she spied the first cat that dared to challenge her new cat repeller. As soon as the device was triggered (and the alert sounded) this cat executed a perfect vertical escape route. That’s right, straight up. Hopeful that it would happen again she readied her video camera only to discover that any other intruder simply ran for their very lives (sans the vertical leap).

The manufacturers of The Big Cheese Cat Repeller want to remind you that you can enjoy better results from their product by moving it around the garden from location to location from time to time (particularly for larger areas); wouldn’t want kitty getting used to it being in one place, after all.
